Key Activities Carried Out as on 16, June 2026

1. During the morning, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., the weekly community clean-up exercise (igitondo cy'isuku) was carried out across all sectors. At the district level, the activity took place in Mamba Sector, Gakoma Cell, Ruhuha Village, and was attended by the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs (VM AFSO).

2. Today, The Mayor attended the RALGA General Assembly, held at the Kigali Marriott Hotel in Kigali City. The General Assembly focused on performance and service delivery in local government, under the theme:
“Aligning data with citizens’ livelihoods and decision-making to enhance performance and improve service delivery.”

3. The Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development (VM ED) chaired a meeting of the Quarry License Review Committee, which was convened to assess license applications submitted by quarry operators.
During the meeting, he urged the quarry operators to conduct their activities in a way that promotes their development, comply with the applicable laws and regulations, and maintain good working relationships, particularly where they operate on adjacent quarry sites.


4. The Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development (VM ED) attended the joint quarterly meeting of the JADF Social Commission and the District Council Social Commission.

The meeting reviewed the following agenda items:
- Key achievements of the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF);
- Joint planning;
- Operationalization of the JADF Smart Room; and
- Any Other Business (AOB).

5. A meeting of the JADF Economic Commission was held, bringing together representatives of the District Council's Economic Commission, namely the Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development (VM ED) and Julienne Mukamusoni.

The meeting focused on the following agenda items:
- Key achievements of the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF);
- Joint planning of the 2026–2027 Imihigo (performance contracts);
- Operationalization of the JADF Smart Room; and
- Any Other Business (AOB).

6. Also today, the quarterly meeting of the JADF Good Governance Commission was held to review the Commission's activities. The meeting was officially opened by the Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development (VM ED).

The agenda included:
- Key achievements of the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF);
- Joint planning of the 2026–2027 Imihigo (performance contracts);
- Operationalization of the JADF Smart Room; and
- Any Other Business (AOB).

7. In the afternoon, the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs (VM AFSO) received the District coordinators of the Joint Programme for Rural Women's Economic Empowerment (JP RWEE). Their visit was part of a monitoring mission to assess the project's implementation, its impact on beneficiaries, and the areas where the District would like the project to be expanded should additional funding become available.

The JP RWEE project has been operating in Gisagara District since 2022 under a five-year programme. It is currently implemented in two sectors—Save and Ndora—covering four cells: Gatoki and Shyanda in Save Sector, and Cyamukuza and Mukande in Ndora Sector.

8. In the afternoon, citizens' assemblies were held in all cells across the District as part of ongoing efforts to engage with residents and address the challenges they face.
At the District level, the meeting took place in Nyeranzi Cell, Gishubi Sector, and was attended by the Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development (VM ED).

Meanwhile, the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs (VM AFSO) attended the citizens' assembly held in Kibilizi Cell, Kibilizi Sector.

Following the citizens' assembly, the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs (VM AFSO) visited patients at Kibilizi Hospital who had come to receive eye treatment.

Through a partnership between the District and the security institutions—the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and the Rwanda National Police (RNP)—free cataract surgery is being provided. A total of 251 registered patients are scheduled to undergo surgery. Fifty-six (56) patients were operated on today. The operation will continue tomorrow, when the programme will also be officially launched.
