Gisagara District Coordination Meeting brought together more than 800 Leaders

Gisagara District held a District Coordination Meeting attended by leaders and representatives of different categories of citizens from the District, Sector, Cell and Village levels, as well as representatives of various institutions operating in the District.

The meeting brought together more than 800 participants and was organized in collaboration with the District Council to present to leaders and stakeholders the achievements registered during the five-year mandate (2021–2026), highlight ongoing projects, and identify key priorities to be taken forward by the incoming leadership.

The meeting was notably attended by Hon. Senator Cyitatire Sosthene, who was the Guest of Honour, the Director General in charge of Social Protection at MINALOC, District Councillors, JADF representatives, and representatives of various institutions operating in the District.

Following welcoming remarks by the Chairperson of the District Council, Innocent Uwimana, the Mayor of Gisagara District, Jerome Rutaburingoga, presented an overview of the key achievements registered during the five-year mandate, including ongoing projects and priority areas requiring continued attention by the incoming leadership.

A panel discussion was also conducted, focusing on the qualities and responsibilities of effective leadership, including appropriate conduct and approaches that enable leaders to effectively contribute to the socio-economic development and well-being of the population.

In his remarks, Hon. Senator Cyitatire Sosthene reminded participants that the Government’s vision places the citizen at the centre of development. He emphasized that every leader, at his or her respective level, as well as every citizen, has a role to play in translating this vision into concrete actions.

He urged leaders across all levels and services to refrain from corruption, noting that corruption undermines citizens’ trust in public institutions. He instead called upon leaders to prioritize quality service delivery and intensify efforts to combat poverty among the population.

Hon. Senator Cyitatire commended Gisagara leaders for their commitment to being “role models” in various areas of community development. He particularly appreciated the strong spirit of collaboration and mutual understanding that has characterized the District’s leadership throughout the five-year mandate.

He concluded by urging all stakeholders to closely monitor and ensure that all children are enrolled in and attend school, emphasizing that the country’s development vision includes creating employment opportunities beyond agriculture, which requires a well-educated population.
